Nervous

Tonight I was chatting with Spencer about his upcoming birthday tomorrow. We talked about the excitement of turning five and all the fun things we were going to do. Then he got serious and said, "You know why I'm afraid to be five?" Surprised, I asked, "No, why are you afraid?" He said, "Because I don't want you to leave me at school." My heart turned to mush. I assured him I would never leave him if he didn't feel comfortable. I know how he feels. The first day of school is so hard, but I think he will have a lot of fun once he gets there and starts doing things. I sure hope he doesn't feel stressed about it all day tomorrow. Poor little boy. He's so like his parents.

The Athlete

I signed up Spencer for a community sports skills class. They learn throwing, catching, kicking, and batting, etc. The first week they did soccer. It was hilarious. Way more entertaining than a professional game. There were little 3-5 year-olds running all over the field, everywhere but where they were supposed to go. They were so proud when they scored for the wrong team! We forgot the camera for football last week, but they're going to play it again on Wednesday. We'll try to get some video of it for our readers' enjoyment.
Here are the baseball pictures. It was chaos that day, too, but it was great fun.
The teacher requested some parents to assist in the outfield. Spencer and Andy played third base together. Andy would just pick up the little players and carry them where they needed to be, cheering all the way.

Smile For the Day

The great thing about kids is that they never fail to provide me with something fun to think about for the rest of the day. This morning Spencer was quietly eating his breakfast when suddenly he burst out, "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again!"

My Cute Carson

Obviously I'm biased, but I do believe my children are quite adorable. Check out these cute photos of #2....Such a big boy sitting at Spencer's desk!

More sleeping.... We were strapped for laundry on this particular night, so his jammies didn't match. Tsk, tsk!

At my sister's house. I think we might need to get Carson a little camping chair.

He was being quite a ham that day, making faces at Jeffrey and goofing off with him.

Andy took this in Toys R Us. I sent them to the store to secure a special item for both boys' Christmas gift that happened to be on a good sale. Carson immediately began fastening his own seat belt.

County Fair 2008

I love the fair, especially the Davis County Fair because it's free! Of course, you get ripped off if you want to do any rides, but at least everything else is free. We go with my sister and her three boys every year. Another sort of new tradition we've created.Balloon swords are sooo cool...until they pop. Then it's very sad.

Free pony rides are a favorite highlight. I wish they let adults do it.

Spencer chose motorcycles for his "ripoff ride." He picked a yellow one, of course.

I chose the merry-go-round for Carson, since he's not old enough to voice his opinion. I think he enjoyed it because he was mad when it was time to get off!

Backyard Campout

Camping in the backyard has become an annual tradition for the boys. Soon Carson will be able to join in the fun. Unfortunately they picked a bad night for sleeping outdoors. It was terribly windy and later got chilly too. Spencer says the wind "drived Daddy CRAZY!!" They suffered through it until about 5:00 am, although they didn't do much sleeping all that time. Needless to say, they were both exhausted the next day! We made s'mores in the microwave just for the occasion, and then we ate popcorn while we read stories in the tent. The preliminary activities are always the best part, I think!
Happy faces before the wind storm began....

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Andy got tickets to the Bees baseball game a couple weeks ago, so he and Spencer went. Spencer has been to a few games before and LOVES them! He gets right in there and hollers with the rest of the fans. He really knows how to shovel in the popcorn too.
