We got quite close to this guy. He just happened to want to munch on the bush right by us. We could hear him chewing!
Wow--snakes are sooo cool! He was a little nervous to be standing so close with only a window between them, but it was fun, too.
You may not be able to tell what this is right away, but it's a large tortoise. He came right up to the fence to nibble on a small tree. Spencer would like to have ridden on his back, too.
This is the special white alligator. He really is interesting. He's not albino; he just has no pigment in his skin. He's vulnerable in the wild because he's so conspicuous and he can also be easily sunburned.
Here's a head shot for you. Kinda creepy. We had to go through there twice. He was the highlight of the trip.
As we were walking out, a zookeeper brought out this African millipede. Of course, we had to watch it for a while. Spencer was fascinated. He even reached out and touched it for about 1/2 second. It has 400 legs!!

isn't the zoo great!? we still haven't gone this year, and really want to.
You got some great pictures! I just love taking boys to the zoo- they teach me to appreciate how cool the creepy animals are!
Carson is getting toothy. Spencer will really need to be on guard against getting chomped by him. Spencer, keep your fingers out of Carson's mouth. See you all in November.
